The Järvamaa Song and Dance Celebration will take place on the Vargamäe grounds on 31 May.

In 2025, Estonia will mark 500 years since the birth of the first known Estonian-language book as part of a theme year. The Järvamaa Song and Dance Celebration is dedicated, within the “Estonian Book 500” programme, to the power of the word and the message it carries. Through works written by A. H. Tammsaare that have taken root in the hearts of Estonians, we seek to reflect on the depth of words and connect that with the feelings evoked by what is spoken. One of the main messages of the Järvamaa Song and Dance Celebration is the force of feelings and the power of words. The closer the annual grand celebration comes, the more attention and emotion it generates. There are moments of excitement and enthusiasm, but also weariness and defiance. The world of feelings is as colourful as a folk costume skirt. In a skirt, different colours come together in harmony — can the same happen with the different feelings that arise? The last weekend of May is the time when we gather in a sacred place, Vargamäe, a cultural sanctuary. This gives us the opportunity to sense our roots and reflect on the essence of the Järvamaa Song and Dance Celebration and the role of every individual. It is a celebration that gives rise to many different thoughts and feelings, both conflicting and harmonious, and all of this and much more will be brought before the audience in the 2025 celebration. jarvamaapidu.ee
