Heritage Hike ‘Lost Farmsteads’

The heritage hike ‘Lost Farmsteads’ is a journey of discovery near the A. H. Tammsaare Museum, where we search for the last traces of human activity in places that were still inhabited in the middle of the 20th century. These places cannot be reached by walking on the boardwalk; instead, we must hike through changing terrain. Walking among trees and bushes, we reach ruins, explore where old paths once ran, and talk about how these places are connected with the writer’s family and with ‘Truth and Justice’. We will see how quickly a human dwelling disappears once no one lives there anymore. To reach the farm sites, we will make our way through bushes and cross natural obstacles such as fallen trees that have to be climbed over. The hike is of moderate difficulty and is not recommended for children under 6. Meeting point: Simisalu hiking lodge car park at 10:50. Start of hike: 11:00. Length: 10.5 km. Duration: 3–4 hours. Price: €5 / €4. With the hike ticket, it is also possible to visit the museum on the same day. More information: siiri@vargamae.ee Registration: muuseum@vargamae.ee, 53403461. Please let us know if you are coming, as places are limited. See you on the heritage hike!
