Suvisted are the holidays that welcome summer. For a herdsman, they meant a day off, or at least a free morning. In farming, they marked the end of sowing and a brief pause before haymaking began. Among household tasks, the most important was a thorough cleaning of the home: floors were washed with special care, the yard was swept clean, and even the footpaths were tidied. All of this had to be done before birch branches were brought in. The main emphasis of Suvisted customs falls on young people gathering together, showing affection, and enjoying themselves. 19 May we will celebrate Suvisted at Vargamäe as well, either indoors or by the swing ground, depending on the weather. Bring a small performance from your own repertoire as your contribution. It would be wonderful if you could involve other guests too. Bring a picnic basket. Host: Kaja Kraav.
